About the Company
Our client is a fast-growing engineering consultancy delivering infrastructure and development projects across the UK. Currently operating mainly across The South of Engand they are continuing their growth plans with a new York office building on 35% YoY Growth, up to 85% in some Business Units.
With an established reputation across civil and structural engineering, the business continues to expand its regional presence and project portfolio across residential, commercial and infrastructure sectors. Primarilly focusing on Rail, Power and Infrastructure projects.
Following sustained growth and a strong pipeline of secured work, they are now looking to appoint a Civil Engineering Director to establish and lead a brand-new office in York.
This is a genuine opportunity for an ambitious Associate Director or Principal Engineer looking to step into a senior leadership position with autonomy, influence and long-term progression.
About the Role
As Civil Engineering Director, you will take ownership of the new York office, leading the growth, technical delivery and operational development of the regional business unit. This office has not been opened yet and the team and scope will be built around yourself and a Structural Director. You must have a good knowledge of regional projects and will be expected to understand the key players in that market.
You will play a key role in developing client relationships, winning new work and building a high-performing engineering team, while remaining involved in the delivery of complex infrastructure and development projects.
This role would suit someone commercially aware, technically strong and motivated by the opportunity to help shape and grow a business.
The key responsibilities for this Civil Engineering Director role are:
- Lead and develop the new York office as part of the company's wider growth strategy
- Manage the delivery of civil engineering projects across multiple sectors
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders and project teams
- Identify and secure new business opportunities across the region
- Provide technical leadership and oversight across design and project delivery
- Lead, mentor and develop engineering staff within the office
- Support recruitment and team growth plans
- Manage project performance across programme, quality and commercial delivery
- Contribute to business planning and strategic development activities
Experience required for this Civil Engineering Director role are:
- Proven experience within a civil engineering consultancy environment
- Experience delivering infrastructure and development projects
- Strong client-facing and business development capability
- Experience managing teams and leading technical delivery
- Commercial awareness with experience managing project performance
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Chartered Engineer status or working towards chartership
Desirable knowledge, skills and experience for this Civil Engineering Director role are:
- Experience helping establish or grow regional teams or offices
- Existing client relationships within the Yorkshire market
- Experience across residential, commercial or infrastructure developments
- Experience mentoring and developing engineering teams
