Learning Support Assistant (1:1 SEN Support) – Primary School

The Role

We are seeking a compassionate and committed Learning Support Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a child with Special Educational Needs (SEN) within a mainstream primary school in Witham. This is a rewarding long-term opportunity to make a meaningful difference to a child’s educational journey.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support tailored to the pupil’s individual needs
• Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and accessible learning
• Implement strategies to support learning, behaviour, and emotional development
• Build a positive and trusting relationship with the pupil
• Monitor and report on progress and wellbeing
• Work collaboratively with teaching staff, SENCO, and external professionals

Requirements

• Previous experience working with children with SEN (e.g. autism, ADHD, speech and language needs)
• A calm, patient and nurturing approach
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to adapt learning and support strategies
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
