We are looking to appoint a reliable, proactive and hardworking Caretaker to join our welcoming school community in Watford from September 2026.This is a key role within the school, ensuring our buildings and grounds remain safe, secure, clean and well-maintained for pupils, staff and visitors.The Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
Opening and securing the school site each day.Carrying out routine maintenance, minor repairs and general handyman duties.Ensuring the school buildings and grounds are clean, safe and well presented.Completing routine health and safety checks and maintaining accurate records.Liaising with and supervising contractors working on site.Setting up rooms and equipment for assemblies, meetings and school events.Managing deliveries and supporting site security procedures.Responding to emergency maintenance issues when required.Helping to maintain a welcoming, safe and positive environment for the whole school community.
We Are Looking For Someone Who:
Has previous experience in caretaking, site management, facilities or maintenance.Is practical, organised and able to work independently.Has a good understanding of health and safety regulations.Takes pride in maintaining high standards across the school site.Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Is reliable, trustworthy, flexible and dependable.Can remain calm and respond effectively to unexpected situations.
