Environmental Manager

Location: Watford

Salary: Circa £51,000 - £60,000 plus car / car allowance and package

Summary

A leading tier 1 contractor in the civil engineering and infrastructure sectors is seeking an Environmental Manager to join their head office in Watford.

We are seeking candidates who enjoy making environmental improvement practical, positive and part of everyday work. This role sits at the heart of the UK division, working collaboratively with teams across the business to strengthen environmental performance, support transparency and embed robust environmental management practices.

You will play a key role in shaping how environmental data, systems and targets are developed, communicated and used. Working closely with delegation Heads of Environment and specialist teams, you will help create clarity, consistency and confidence in our environmental approach while championing continuous improvement and positive engagement.

This role could suit a Senior Environmental Advisor looking for their next step in their career or an Environmental Manager looking for a new challenge within a major infrastructure business

Environmental Manager responsibilities will include

-    Coordinating environmental activities across all UK delegations.
-    Leading and maintaining the UK division Environment Management System aligned to ISO 14001.
-    Delivering clear and accurate environmental reporting for internal and external disclosures.
-    Managing Scope 1, 2 and 3 carbon data with actionable insight.
-    Supporting environmental incident investigations and system improvements.
-    Enabling the development of realistic environmental roadmaps and targets.
-    Supporting delivery of commitments on water, circular economy and biodiversity.
-    Sharing environmental news and updates through internal communication channels.
-    Championing environmental initiatives and recognition programmes across the business.
-    Fostering strong collaboration and positive engagement within environmental teams.

Essential Skills:

-    Proven experience leading environmental management activities ideally in the construction / engineering sectors.
-    Strong knowledge of environmental reporting and disclosure frameworks.
-    Confidence working with environmental data and performance metrics.
-    Ability to communicate findings clearly to varied audiences.
-    Practical understanding of ISO 14001 and management systems.
-    Experience supporting carbon footprint assessment and reporting.
-    Collaborative approach when working across teams and disciplines.
-    Relevant environmental qualification.
-    Professional curiosity and awareness of emerging environmental topics
-    Hold Bachelor's degree/MSc (or equivalent) in a relevant environmental discipline
