We're working with a group of welcoming and inclusive schools across Sunderland and the surrounding areas that are preparing for the new academic year and looking to welcome dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants to their teams.

These schools are committed to ensuring every child receives the support they need to thrive academically, socially and emotionally. Staff work collaboratively to create nurturing learning environments where pupils feel safe, valued and encouraged to achieve their full potential.

We're looking for caring, adaptable and proactive individuals who are passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

What you'll be doing

• Providing 1:1 and small group support for pupils with additional needs
• Supporting pupils to access learning and engage fully in lessons
• Working closely with teachers and SENDCOs to deliver tailored support
• Encouraging independence, confidence and positive learning behaviours
• Supporting pupils' social, emotional and academic development
• Monitoring and recording pupil progress where required

What we're looking for

• Experience supporting children or young people with SEND
• A patient, nurturing and positive approach
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• A good understanding of child development and learning processes
• A willingness to travel to schools across Sunderland and surrounding areas
• A driving licence and access to a vehicle is beneficial but not essential
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
