We're working with schools across Sunderland and the surrounding areas that are looking to appoint Autism Support Assistants for the new academic year.

These schools provide nurturing and structured learning environments where pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) are supported to develop confidence, communication skills and independence.

We're looking for compassionate and motivated individuals who are committed to helping pupils achieve their full potential.

What you'll be doing

• Providing 1:1 and small group support for pupils with autism
• Supporting communication, social interaction and emotional regulation
• Assisting pupils to access learning activities and classroom routines
• Working alongside teachers and SEND professionals to implement support strategies
• Encouraging independence and positive relationships
• Monitoring and recording pupil progress

What we're looking for

• Experience supporting children or young people with autism is desirable
• A patient, calm and supportive approach
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• An understanding of inclusive educational practices
• Willingness to travel across Sunderland and surrounding locations
• Driving is beneficial but not essential
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
