1:1 Teaching Assistant
Some children need someone who sees the world a little differently. Someone patient, calm, and ready to build trust one small step at a time. If that sounds like you, keep reading.
We're looking for an experienced 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a Key Stage 2 pupil with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and a Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA) profile.
This isn't about following a script. It's about understanding the child in front of you, knowing when to step in, when to step back, and creating a safe, positive environment where they can flourish.
You'll be joining a welcoming primary school that believes every child deserves to feel valued, included and able to succeed. Staff work closely together, celebrate individuality, and place relationships at the heart of everything they do. You'll be supported by an experienced team who understand the importance of consistency, communication and getting the little things right.
What you'll be doing
- Providing dedicated 1:1 support for a KS2 pupil with ASD and a PDA profile.
- Building a trusting relationship through a calm, flexible and child-led approach.
- Working alongside teachers and SEND professionals to help the pupil access learning.
- Using positive behaviour support and adapting strategies to meet changing needs.
- Helping create a safe, nurturing classroom where confidence can grow every day.
What we're looking for
- Experience supporting children with ASD and PDA is essential.
- A patient, adaptable and resilient approach.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a supportive team.
- An Enhanced Child Workforce DBS registered on the Update Service.
- A minimum of 24 months of referenceable employment or education history.
