Year 6 SEND Learning Support

Year 6 can feel like a big year for any child. New expectations, growing independence, and the countdown to secondary school. For some pupils, having the right support alongside them can make all the difference.

We’re working with a welcoming primary school in Lawrence Weston looking for a Flexible Learning Partner to provide dedicated 1:1 support within a Year 6 classroom.

The school supports a high number of pupils with complex SEND needs and is looking for someone experienced, calm, and confident supporting children who may need extra help with emotional regulation, communication, engagement in learning, and day-to-day routines.

This is a rewarding role where relationship-building, consistency, and patience are at the heart of everything you do.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Providing dedicated 1:1 support within a Year 6 classroom
  • Supporting a pupil with complex SEND needs throughout the school day
  • Helping with emotional regulation, classroom engagement, and learning activities
  • Encouraging confidence, independence, and positive routines
  • Working closely with the class teacher and wider SEND team to provide consistent support

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has previous SEND experience within a school or similar setting
  • Feels confident supporting pupils with complex additional needs
  • Is calm, patient, and adaptable in challenging situations
  • Can build positive and trusting relationships with pupils and staff
  • Is reliable, proactive, and ready to start ASAP

Due to the location of the school, driving is preferred. However, the school can also be accessed via train and bus routes.

Essential requirements:

  • Enhanced child-only DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one
  • References covering the last 24 months
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Overseas police checks required for any overseas stays longer than 3 months within the past 5 years
  • Unfortunately, sponsorship is not available for this role

Why work with Protocol Education?

  • Weekly PAYE pay, no umbrella companies
  • FREE access to our online CPD Academy
  • Ongoing support from a dedicated consultant
  • Opportunities to expand your SEND experience and training
  • Roles where your support can genuinely shape a child’s confidence and school journey

This role would suit someone who understands that the right encouragement at the right time can have a lasting impact, especially during such an important year in a child’s education.
