Pastoral Roles - Secondary school in Redbridge
Pastoral Support Worker
Redbridge, East London
£92 - £120 per day (depending on experience)
Full-time opportunities available
Some students need more than academic support.
They need someone who listens. Someone who understands. Someone who can help them navigate the challenges that come with growing up.
We're looking for compassionate, resilient, and confident individuals to join secondary schools across Redbridge as Pastoral Support Workers.
You don't necessarily need previous school experience. We've successfully placed people from backgrounds including youth work, sports coaching, mentoring, residential care, social care, behaviour support, and community work into these roles.
What matters most is your ability to build positive relationships with young people, remain calm in challenging situations, and genuinely care about helping students succeed.
What you'll be doing:
-
Supporting students with their wellbeing, attendance, behaviour, and engagement
-
Building positive relationships with pupils who may need additional support
-
Working closely with teachers, pastoral leads, and safeguarding teams
-
Helping students overcome barriers to learning
-
Supporting behaviour management and conflict resolution when needed
-
Acting as a positive role model throughout the school day
We're looking for someone who:
-
Has strong communication and relationship-building skills
-
Is confident working with secondary-aged students
-
Can remain calm and professional under pressure
-
Has a genuine passion for supporting young people
-
Is resilient, empathetic, and approachable
-
Wants to make a lasting difference in children's lives
Why choose a pastoral role?
Every day is different. One conversation could help a student turn their whole day around.
You'll play a vital role in helping young people feel supported, understood, and ready to learn. It's a role that's challenging at times, but incredibly rewarding.
Many of our Pastoral Support Workers go on to build careers in education, safeguarding, youth work, counselling, behaviour mentoring, teaching, and school leadership.
