Location: Islington, London (Hybrid 2 Days WFH)
Salary: Up to £110k DOE
We are partnered with a growing international infrastructure business to appoint a Managing Quantity Surveyor within their UK commercial team.
This is a senior commercial position suited to someone who enjoys taking ownership, driving structure, and improving commercial performance across fast moving projects. The business operates within high spec technical environments, including mission-critical and data centre infrastructure, supporting major global clients across the UK and internationally.
The role will suit a commercially strategic Managing QS or an experienced Senior QS ready to step into a more visible leadership role, with responsibility for commercial governance, contract management, risk, reporting and team development.
About the Opportunity - Managing Quantity Surveyor
You will be responsible for leading commercial activity across projects or portfolios from contract through to final account, while also supporting and developing members of the QS team, with the ability to bring structure, accountability and commercial discipline to complex environments.
Key Responsibilities - Managing Quantity Surveyor
- Take full commercial ownership of projects or portfolios from contract award through to final account
- Lead, mentor and develop Quantity Surveyors within the commercial team
- Drive commercial strategy, cost control, forecasting, reporting and margin protection
- Manage change control, variations, contractual notices, claims and entitlement
- Review, administer and interpret NEC, FIDIC and/or JCT contracts
- Lead negotiations with clients, subcontractors and supply chain partners
- Identify, manage and mitigate commercial risk and opportunity
- Provide accurate commercial reporting to project, operational and senior leadership teams
- Act as a trusted commercial advisor across delivery, finance and senior management
- Support the implementation of stronger governance, commercial controls and best practice across the business
Key Skills - Managing Quantity Surveyor
- Proven experience as a Managing Quantity Surveyor, Senior Quantity Surveyor or Commercial Lead
- Background in construction, infrastructure, M&E, technology infrastructure, mission critical or data centre environments
- Strong commercial acumen with experience managing cost, change, risk, forecasting and final accounts
- Good working knowledge of NEC, FIDIC and/or JCT contract forms
- Experience leading, mentoring or supporting QS / commercial team members
- Confident communicator with the ability to operate at client and senior stakeholder level
- Hands-on, accountable and comfortable taking ownership of commercial outcomes
- Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related discipline
