Looking for a teaching role where you can make a genuine difference every day?

We're working with a welcoming and well-resourced SEND school in South East London looking for an experienced and compassionate SEND Teacher to join their team from September 2026 for the full academic year.

This role is ideal for a teacher who is passionate about supporting young people with additional needs and preparing them for life beyond school. You will primarily teach Key Stage 4 pupils, although there may be some Key Stage 3 teaching depending on the timetable.

Working with small classes of pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs, including Autism, you'll play a key role in helping students develop the skills, confidence and independence they need for adulthood.

The Role

As a SEND Teacher, you will:

• Deliver engaging and accessible lessons to pupils with a range of SEND needs, including Autism

• Primarily teach Key Stage 4 students, with occasional Key Stage 3 lessons where required

• Be responsible for your own planning, preparation and assessment

• Deliver a specialist curriculum including:

  • ASDAN KS4 Accreditation
  • Humanities Pathways
  • Preparing for Adulthood
  • Religious Education (small amount)

• Adapt learning to meet individual pupil needs and EHCP outcomes

• Support pupils with speech, language and communication needs through clear and effective communication strategies

• Create a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment where pupils can thrive

• Work collaboratively with therapists, support staff, parents and senior leaders

• Monitor and celebrate pupil progress, both academically and personally

This role does not include form tutor responsibilities, allowing you to focus on delivering high-quality teaching and learning across your allocated classes.

We're Looking For Someone Who:

✔ Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

✔ Has previous SEND teaching experience within a UK school setting

✔ Has experience supporting pupils with Autism and other additional needs

✔ Has strong classroom management and differentiation skills

✔ Has excellent communication skills and can effectively support pupils with speech, language and communication needs

✔ Is confident planning and delivering a personalised curriculum

✔ Understands the importance of preparing young people for adulthood and independent living

✔ Is patient, adaptable and committed to achieving positive outcomes for every learner

✔ Enjoys working as part of a multidisciplinary team

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
