SEND Teacher

North Leeds
Competitive salary / daily rate depending on experience
Full-time and long-term opportunities available

Looking for a SEND Teacher role in North East Leeds where you can make a genuine difference every day?

Not every classroom looks the same, and not every success is measured in big milestones.

Sometimes progress looks like trust.
Sometimes it’s consistency.
Sometimes it’s the small breakthrough that changes everything.

We’re looking for a compassionate and adaptable SEND Teacher to work in specialist schools and alternative provisions across Wakefield, supporting pupils with additional needs who benefit from structure, patience, and understanding.

This role is ideal for teachers who are passionate about SEND education and want to work in settings where relationships, consistency, and personalised learning matter.

The role

This is teaching with purpose, flexibility, and real impact.

You will be:

Planning and delivering lessons tailored to individual pupil needs

Adapting learning to support pupils with ASD, SEMH, PMLD, and complex needs

Building strong, positive relationships with pupils who need trust and consistency

Working closely with Teaching Assistants, SENCOs, therapists, and wider school teams

Creating safe, structured, and engaging learning environments

Supporting both academic progress and emotional development

In SEND settings, progress doesn’t always come in big moments, but every step forward matters.

Why teachers move into SEND and specialist education

Many teachers choose SEND because it allows them to teach in a way that feels meaningful, purposeful, and aligned with their values.

You’ll benefit from:

Opportunities across specialist schools, SEND settings, PRUs, and alternative provisions

Supportive teams with genuine SEND experience

Long-term and permanent opportunities

A chance to make measurable impact in pupils’ lives every day

You’ll be a great fit if you:

✔️ Stay calm and adaptable in changing situations
✔️ Build relationships first and understand learning follows trust
✔️ Are patient, resilient, and emotionally intelligent
✔️ Believe every child deserves to feel safe, supported, and successful

Requirements

QTS, QTLS, or strong SEND teaching experience

Experience working within SEND, SEMH, SEN, or specialist education settings preferred

Confidence differentiating lessons for a range of additional needs

A calm, patient, and compassionate approach
