Pastoral Support Worker & Learning Support Assistant (LSA)
South Leeds | Long-term role | September start | Temp-to-perm option

Are you the kind of person students naturally turn to when they need support, guidance, or just someone who gets it?

We’re working with a welcoming secondary school in South Leeds who are looking for a Pastoral Support Worker to join their team from September. This is a long-term opportunity with the potential to become permanent for the right person.

This role blends pastoral care with in-class support, giving you the chance to make a real difference both inside and outside the classroom.

What you’ll be doing

  • Providing pastoral support to students aged 11 to 18, helping them navigate challenges and stay engaged in school life
  • Building strong, trusting relationships with young people who may need that extra bit of encouragement
  • Supporting behaviour, attendance, and emotional wellbeing
  • Working closely with the pastoral team, teachers, and families to create a consistent support network
  • Acting as a Learning Support Assistant (LSA) in mainstream lessons, helping students access learning and stay on track
  • Being a positive, steady presence in the school day, someone students can rely on

Who this role would suit

  • Someone with experience in education, youth work, care, or mentoring
  • A calm, resilient individual who can handle challenging situations with empathy and confidence
  • A natural relationship-builder who knows how to connect with young people
  • Someone who’s proactive, patient, and genuinely passionate about supporting student wellbeing
  • Experience working with SEN or SEMH needs is a big plus

What the school offers

  • A supportive and collaborative team that values pastoral care as much as academic success
  • A varied role where no two days look the same
  • Opportunities to develop your skills and grow within the school
  • The chance to move into a permanent position
