A dedicated and supportive SEN school in Gateshead is seeking an enthusiastic EYFS SEN Teaching Assistant to join its specialist early years provision.

The school provides a nurturing and inclusive environment for young children with a range of additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), speech and language difficulties, global developmental delay, and sensory needs. Staff work closely together to help pupils develop confidence, communication skills, and independence from an early age.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting pupils during structured and child-led learning activities
  • Promoting communication, language, and social interaction skills
  • Assisting children with emotional wellbeing and self-regulation strategies
  • Helping to create a positive and engaging learning environment
  • Supporting daily routines and encouraging independence
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and support staff

The Successful Candidate Will:

  • Have experience working within early years, childcare, or special educational needs settings
  • Be patient, caring, and able to build positive relationships with children
  • Understand the importance of individual learning and development pathways
  • Demonstrate a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
  • Be committed to helping every child reach their full potential

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
