A secondary school in Gateshead is seeking an English Specialist Teaching Assistant to support pupils aged 11–16 who need additional support with reading and literacy.

Responsibilities

You will help pupils improve:

• Reading comprehension
• Spelling and written communication
• Confidence with written tasks

Support may be delivered through small group sessions or classroom support.

Experience

Experience supporting literacy is helpful but not essential.
Strong English skills and enthusiasm for supporting learning are key.

Trainee roles may be available for candidates developing classroom experience.
