We are seeking an experienced Learning Support Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a pupil with ASD within a welcoming mainstream primary school in Colchester, starting this September.
This is more than just a support role — it’s your opportunity to have a direct, meaningful impact on a child’s confidence, progress, and school experience.
Your role will include:
- Providing dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with ASD
- Helping the pupil stay engaged, focused, and supported throughout the school day
- Using tailored strategies to support communication, emotional regulation, and learning
- Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO
- Creating a calm, positive, and structured environment
We’re looking for someone who:
- Has experience supporting children with ASD (essential)
- Is patient, understanding, and consistent in their approach
- Can build strong, trusting relationships
- Is proactive, reliable, and passionate about supporting SEN pupils

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
